Bermuda Triangle Essay: Sample

The Bermuda Triangle is a triangular region of the earth generally bordered by Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Miami. It has been criticized that there's no real myth of the Bermuda Triangle, no scientific evidence to support extra-terrestrial and paranormal activity. It's a specific area of sea commonly known for its unexplained disappearances of ships and planes, east of Florida and north of Cuba and Puerto Rico. Many believe it's a myth spread by imaginative writers while many gathered evidence to prove it wasn't. Theories of geological occurrences such as to do with weather and the earth under the seas, were given to the reason of the disappearances of the Bermuda Triangle although for over 100 years, people all over the world have been unsure about what to believe of the Bermuda Triangle and whether it was real or not. The most convincing is the evidence against the existence of the triangle.

There are many theories to support the disappearances. Fantasy writers, the technically minded and skeptical investigators all contributed ideas, theories, and reasons to finding the truth of the triangle. These ideas include as indicated by Robert Todd Carroll of `The Skeptics Dictionary', “Evil extra-terrestrials, residue crystals from Atlantis, evil humans with anti-gravity devices… vile vortices from the fourth dimension… Strange magnetic fields…oceanic flatulence… Weather…bad luck, pirates, explosive cargoes, incompetent navigators… natural and human causes…” Mostly mentioned of all causes of the disappearances is human error, which has been recognized to trigger calamity. Lawrence David Kusche, an American author and pilot (also a flight instructor) believes the significant reason why the Bermuda Triangle became mysterious when there weren't explanations for its disappearances is that sea vessels setting sail/returning weren't even listed or reported. Thus, people believed that the vessels simply vanished when the truth is that the disappearances of the vessels were researched upon carelessly, and their arrivals/departures were poorly registered. The Bermuda Triangle has some unusual geographical characteristics. Firstly, distorted magnetic field lines and secondly, incredibly deep sea bed trenches, along with dangerously powerful and unpredictable ocean tides. If it's assumed that the disappearances that took place over the triangle are due to `alien abductions' or paranormal activity in some shape or form, then we must ask ourselves why people are being taken by aliens. It's also possible that the strange magnetic fields around the triangle are actually `no return pathways' to alien worlds—`gates' that ignorant humans accidentally fall into. The disappearances of large ships also suggest groups or tribes of alien kidnappers, arresting humans for scientific experimentation or for more trivial purposes such as keeping humans for display. Other than the supernatural explanations, there's much evidence that all of the incidents that took place in the triangle were actually the result of nature, and can be explained in terms of environmental occurrences such as for example: compass disparities, changes in weather, the effects of the Gulf Stream, and unusual water swells.
